Many owls sleep during the day because they are nocturnal. Nocturnal animals are awake when many other animals are sleeping. They rest during the day and look for food at night.

Owls are good night hunters. Many owls eat small animals such as mice, insects, or small birds. Night can be a good time to hunt because it is cooler and quieter. Some prey animals are also active after dark.
